NEWTOWN SQUARE–Though there are a handful of nail salons in the Marple Newtown area, the new Nail Bar in Newtown Square promises to offer more than just manis and pedis.
The Nail Bar–Mani Pedi Lounge, located off of 3507 West Chester Pike, offers an experience for its clientele. The new nail salon, which opened earlier this week on July 23rd, prides itself on being organic, eco-friendly and family-friendly.

"I really wanted this to be a family-oriented environment, " said co-owner Hang Taing, who noted they offer a fume-free environment where children can come hangout without parents worrying about the fumes.

Taing, who started working at her mom's nail salon in Delaware at the age of 13 by painting a few nails here and there, always dreamed of starting up her own nail salon. Though she graduated from the University of Delaware, Taing, now 30, began studying cosmetology and took the road to become an esthetician. And pretty soon created a following for her craft.

Though they offer a variety of manicures and pedicures–ranging from $11 to $45–a special manicure/pedicure they offer is organic, which uses all organic ingredients including a natural detoxifying rosemary soak to a cucumber melon heel massage for the pedicure.
"What sets us aside is really the environment. We try to focus on organic, our packages are custom done, the jets are not only sanitized before and after a pedicure, they're sanitized during a pedicure too with the new ozone technology, and our lights for the gel manicures are LED lights, " said co-owner and husband David Taing.
David, who took the ideas of his wife's dream to open up her own nail salon, sketched the blueprint of The Nail Bar and transformed it entirely. No traces from the former lighting store can be seen other than the outside edifice.

"This place really looked like a garage with a few pillars and cement flooring, " said David. "We had to do a lot of work. But we loved this space...we chose this spot because of the environment alone. The size of the building, the outside stone walls and the outdoor patio were great and felt like it would be a perfect fit."
What started as just a job to help her mom to a passion for the nail salon business, Taing hopes to successfully continue her work in Newtown Square. David said he isn't worried about his wife succeeding and boasted that her personality would bring a large clientele here. He also noted he wouldn't be surprised if some of her former clients from Delaware drove all the way to Newtown Square to see her.
"My wife is the most pleasant person you'll meet, " said David proudly. "Any business we open, she's going to do well. She's the most considerate person you can find."

Taing, an outgoing people person, said what keeps her in the business is really getting to meet and chat with the clientele. "I just like meeting new people."

In addition, The Nail Bar offers clientele complimentary coffee, water and hot chocolate as they wait for their nails to dry. Other services they offer include maincures and pedicures for children, manicures and pedicures for men, waxing, and ear candling.

The fairly large space also offers a space for private parties and events like bridal showers and birthday parties. David said they'll even clean up after the guests leave and the party is over.
Now through Sunday, July 29, if you like The Nail Bar on their Facebook page, you will receive 25 percent off on your package in celebration of their soft opening. A grand opening has been tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday.
The Nail Bar is closed on Mondays but open Tuesdays–Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
